Russia has recruited nearly 3,000 Africans from 36 countries to fight against Ukraine –MFA

As of May 2026, at least 2,965 citizens from 36 African countries have either served or are currently serving in the Russian army in the war against Ukraine, while Moscow plans to recruit 18,500 foreign fighters this year.
